Business Owner Receives Second Threat over Controversial Sign

Posted:

There's more fall-out over a controversial sign posted outside a local auto repair shop.  The owner of Team Ramco, Flash Sharrar, has received his second threat.  He had posted the sign months ago, reading "No Yobs Aqui."  He said he was fed up with job applicants mistaking his business for an employment office nearby.  Critics accused him of being a racist.

Sharrar has since scribbled a "J" over the "Y" for good measure.  A new sign is in the mail, but apparently someone out there is still not pleased.  Flash says his family member received a text message containing a picture of him and the words "Yuma's number one racist. Mexican cartel #1 target . Pass it on. ~ Steve~O~."

"My son is married to a Hispanic girl from Somerton," explains Sharrar, "and one of the cousins noticed that was Josh's dad and they were worried about it."

Flash says he does not know a Steve O.  He called the police, and now officers are working on tracing that text message.

"It's a third-party type text. A couple problems we run into is a) was it forwarded and b) how many did it go through," says Yuma Police Officer Clint Norred.

This isn't the first threat.  About a week ago, Flash says someone called Team Ramco asking if they had good insurance.

"My message to those people who continue to dove or dig up on this, apparently you are the racist because we are not, and you all have a nice day."

So far no one has acted on any threats against Team Ramco or the Sharrar family.
