Motorist dies in drive over edge of Grand Canyon

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a man who drove over the edge of the Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon National Park spokeswoman Shannan Marcak says rescue personnel found the vehicle and the body of a male about 600 feet below the South Rim.

The National Park Service is investigating. Marcak says no additional information was immediately available.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. Monday near the El Tovar Hotel.
