DENVER (AP) - Hunter Pence hit a tiebreaking double in the eighth and led the San Francisco Giants over the Colorado Rockies 4-2 today in a game resumed after being suspended on May 22 because of rain. Pence, who homered in the fourth inning on May 22, doubled home Andrew Susac. Pinch-hitter Travis Ishikawa added an RBI single.

SAN DIEGO (AP) - The San Diego Padres have promoted infielder Cory Spangenberg, their first-round pick in the 2011 amateur draft, as part of their September callups. Spangenberg was scheduled to start at third base and bat eighth in today's game against Arizona. Spangenberg was hitting .331 with two homers and 22 RBIs with Double-A San Antonio.

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Running back Marion Grice, a sixth-round pick from Arizona State, was released by the San Diego Chargers in favor of defensive lineman Ricardo Mathews. Mathews was signed in the offseason by the Houston Texans, but then released over the weekend. The Chargers open the season next Monday night against the Cardinals.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) - The Oakland Raiders have signed former New England cornerback Ras-I Dowling to their practice squad. Dowling played nine games for the Patriots in 2011-12 after being drafted in the second round. He spent last season on the New York Jets' practice squad and was released by the Jets last week after being hampered by foot and groin injuries in training camp.
