LOS ANGELES (AP) - Justin Turner drove in two runs and scored another pair, helping rally the Los Angeles Dodgers to an 8-6 win over the San Diego Padres last night that snapped a three-game skid. The Dodgers have won six of their last seven against the Padres, and improved to 8-3 against their NL West rival this season. They avoided their first four-game losing streak.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Coco Crisp hit a tiebreaking three-run triple in the fourth inning to help Scott Kazmir earn his career-best 14th win, and the Oakland Athletics beat the New York Mets 6-2 last night to snap a five-game losing streak. The A's, who avoided losing six consecutive games for the first time since 2012, remained a half-game behind the Los Angeles Angels in the AL West.
BOSTON (AP) - Chris Iannetta hit his second double of the game, a tiebreaking drive in the ninth inning off Red Sox closer Koji Uehara that sent the Los Angeles Angels over Boston 4-3 last night. Brennan Boesch had a ground-rule double with two outs off Uehara (5-3) for the Angels' first hit since the fourth. Iannetta then lined a double off the left-field wall, just above the leap of Daniel Nava.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - The San Francisco 49ers have signed defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey to a two-year contract extension through the 2016 season. Dorsey, 29, is sidelined with a torn left biceps muscle that required surgery. He was injured Aug. 1, but hasn't been ruled out for the season.
