PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Ryan Howard homered and scored the go-ahead run on an overturned call in the Philadelphia Phillies' 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks yesterday. With the score 2-2 in the sixth, Marlon Byrd popped up to short right field. Ender Inciarte threw to the plate, where Miguel Montero was blocking Howard's path, grabbed the throw on the fly and tagged the runner. Umpire Dale Scott signaled out, but after a review, Howard was ruled safe because Montero blocked the plate before he grabbed the throw.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Patrick Peterson says the debate over who is the best cornerback in the NFL will go on throughout his career and that of the other contenders. And Peterson says he is the best. Speaking at the Arizona Cardinals' training camp yesterday, Peterson also mentioned the two others "in the conversation," Joe Haden and Darrelle Revis.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Jeff Gordon grabbed the lead from Kasey Kahne (KAYN) during a re-start with 17 laps to go and pulled way for the victory in the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
