Cheaper in Mexico

Posted: Updated:

Our lagging economy is hitting consumers hard, so hard a lot of them are opting for cheaper alternatives across the border.

That's right, lower prices for a number of articles and services.

Just a few miles from here, only at the other side of the fence.

Jerry Redner makes a three hour drive at least once a month to get his denture fixed.

He says is worth the time and the expense of the gas. "For 20 thousand dollars less in Mexico, is well worth the trips".

Dental work is just one of the many things you'll find cheaper in Mexico.

"It was a matter of money", says Jerry, "like $32,000 dollars in Surprise Arizona where I live, against about two thirds less here in Mexico".

Prescription drugs, alchohol, cigaretts and even gas are cheaper on the other side of the fence.

You can find a an eye doctor, a pharmacy, a restaurant and even a liquor store all in one building making it even more convenient for people who leave their car on the U.S. and just walk a few blocks.

But is cheaper always better?

Dr. Carlos D. Rubio is a Dentist in Algodones, Sonora. He says that when a patient comes into the office and asks me for some kind of work he's just gonna show them previous work from some other patient. "That is the best prove we're doing something good", says Dr. Rubio.

Dentists in his facility are up to date with the latest equipment bjust like in the U.S.

"We're gonna introduce all kinds of laser equipment into the practice, that will make comfortable and easy dental work", says Dr. Rubio

But how did Jerry find a good dentist in Algodones?  If you look around you can see in every corner there's a dentist.

He found out about Dr. Rubio not only through references but through Dayo dental.

Ron Dinloan Manager Director of Dayo Dental  works with U.S. Dental patients who'd like to go to Mexico for high quality but affordable dental treatment.

Making it more convenient for people to get their dental procedures done at a better price and with the confidence of guranteed work.

"Americans going to Mexico for dental procedures, it's a given that they're gonna save in their dental care but I think the most important thing is the quality service they'll get", says Dinloan.

Dayo Dental is based out of Phoenix and twice a week shuttles people from all over Arizona and beyond to get their dental procedures done in Algodones.

"We choose the best dental care you can get from Mexico", says Dinloan.

Meanwhile Redner says he has not one qualm about the work they've done.

Dr. Rubio assures, "it's a safe place and you can have a good time here. Good food, good shopping and in the meantime you fix your teeth".

Just keep in mind that a lot of good priced products cannot be introduced to the U.S.

Before you head out there looking for good deals make sure you check the list of restricted goods.
