Heather and Tom met in San Francisco through mutual friends. Tom invited Heather to a show, but she asked a friend along, not realizing it was a date. Tom gave it another shot, inviting Heather to his boss' nightclub. That's where sparks flew and they shared their first kiss.
THE BRIDE: Heather, 29, advertising account manager
THE GROOM: Tom, 29, senior project manager
THE DATE: August 30
Fast forward two years during a ride down the California coast. Tom popped in a mix CD he had made, starting with the couple's favorite song. Then he pulled off at their favorite beach and got down on one knee. Heather immediately dropped to hers, laughing and crying hysterically. "He finally asked if my reaction meant yes. And yes, of course it meant yes!"
The Bridal Bouquet Heather's bouquet echoed the same vibrant cheery color scheme of the day with deep red roses, yellow orchids with red centers and green accents.
The Escort Cards The escort cards echoed the same country theme as the invitations. The red cards featured two little apples at the top of the names and were attached to an apple with a bamboo stick. The apples were displayed on a table covered in a red linen cloth.
The Table Numbers The double apple motif that appeared on the escort cards for a cohesive, orchard-inspired look.
The Reception Decor Heather and Tom utilized the space by hanging votive lanterns from the big apple tree in the yard with brightly colored ribbon. They wanted their guests to be comfortable so they set up a lounge area with hay bales, festive quilts and throw pillows.
The First Dance The couple shared their first dance to their song, "The First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes. It's the same song Tom played on the morning he proposed.
The Cake Heather and Tom chose a clean and modern design for the cake. All five tiers were lined with cream beading and covered in clusters of fall-colored sugar blossoms.
