Ruth Castillo joined the KSWT News Team in May 2010 as a reporter, producer and anchor. She spent two years working at Metro Networks as a radio reporter, covering news and traffic for various radio stations in San Diego. She has a BA in Communications from BYU and a MA in Behavioral Science from CSU Dominguez Hills. Most recently, Ruth worked on her TV broadcasting skills at San Diego City College.

Ruth also worked as a freelance journalist, high school cross country/track coach and fitness instructor while raising her small family in San Diego. She also spent 10 years as a Navy wife, seeing her husband off on four six-month deployments to the Persian Gulf.

In her spare time, Ruth enjoys spending time with her family, running on the trails, and taking photos with her infrared camera.
