Yuma, AZ Oct. 8 - The first series of runs that happen throughout the winter season kicks off with the 5K Moonlight Run and Fun Walk at Wetlands Park in Yuma.The 5K Moonlight Run and Fun walk is the warm up event for the other five races taking place from now until March.
Runners participating in the series of runs not only benefit by getting healthier, but also earn points based on their standings in each race. Those runners with the most points will be the 2011 City Champions, Winning either gold, silver, or bronze medallions.
All the runs take place on a Saturday and the next one is the Turkey Trot, followed by Reindeer Round-Up, New Years Resolution, Great Yuma Road Race, and ending with March-On City finals.
Organizers of the run say, everyone is encouraged to participate. Yuma City's Recreation Superintendent, Debbie Wendt says "Anyone Can Participate our categories for each one of the age divisions is 9 and under, all the way up to 90 and over...we even have children in strollers so you don't have to be and avid runner by any means."
Early registration is $8 and on-site registration is $14.
