Yuma, AZ -- Yuma VFW members celebrate Fourth of July.

American flags, music and just having a great time. These are signs of a good Fourth of July celebration.  All taking place at VFW Post 1763 on East 14th street in Yuma.  Post Commander, Simon Martinez says, "this is the day that we look forward to every year."

A day to celebrate America, but VFW Post 1763, it's a year round celebration. At this VFW all branches of the military are represented from wall to wall and even ceiling to floor.

The American spirit is here. Martinez says, "to most of us veterans and to the people of the United States, this day is a great day for us.  So we celebrate with our comrades."

All throughout the lodge, decorated eloquently, are plaques, pictures, medals and awards.  A great reminder to Veterans of their time they spent working to protect America's freedom.  Martinez says, "a lot of us say that was a long time ago, yes true, but it started somewhere along the line and you have to look at it.  We enjoy today's world because of the veterans who put their time in."

U.S. Army Veteran Chris Nunez who served in the Army for more than 25 years reflects on his service, "as a soldier and saluting the flag everyday, kind of reminds us of what are freedoms are.  It is also reminding us of why you're really there."

These Veterans are proud to serve, proud to protect and proud to celebrate America.
