Healthcare reform forum held in El Centro

EL CENTRO, Calif. - Residents in the Imperial Valley and business owners got a chance to learn about healthcare reform.

The Imperial Valley joint chambers of commerce hosted a forum today at the El Centro Regional Medical Center to discuss the 2014 healthcare mandates.

Health officials say successful businesses and medical care go hand- in- hand.

"As a clinician… I will say that healthcare and the business community are very interdependent, very interrelated," said Dr. Afshan Baig, Medical Director for Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo. "If your staff is healthy, there are going to be better workers. If they are not, then your business is not going to be working at its maximum capacity"

During the event people in attendance were also able to visit different booths that provided healthcare information.
