MCAS Yuma, Arizona November 16, 2011 - Family and friends gathered at the VMA-513 hangar bay Wednesday night waited with eager anticipation for their Marines after being apart for half a year.
Excited kids ran up and down runways of bubble wrap and jumped around in bounce houses in the hangar bay. Military dependents held babies, balloons and homemade signs to welcome their service members home.
About 200 Yuma-based Marines with Marine Attack Squadron 513 and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13 were coming back to MCAS Yuma after a six-month deployment in Afghanistan.
During their deployment, VMA-513 and MALS 13 Marines supported ground troops by ensuring the safety and readiness of Marine aircraft. They also helped Kanawha Airfield military police with vehicle and compound searches.
As the hangar bay doors of VMA-513 opened, the Marines walked into warm homecoming welcome as their loved one greeted them with hugs, kisses and tears of joy.
