MCAS Yuma investigating isolated fuel line leak

Posted:

Military officials are investigating what caused an isolated fuel line leak at the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma's flight line.

It happened Tuesday November 22nd, 2011 around 2 p.m.

After the leak was discovered, Marines discontinued fueling and turned off all cut-off valves along the pipeline.

Station Environmental Management officials responded immediately and are determining the full extent of the contamination.

Officials predict this incident will have no effect on local drinking water.

The National Response Center and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality have been notified.

MCAS Yuma officials say they are taking this incident very seriously. They're committed to restoration and repair efforts of the affected area until it is cleaned.
