Mexicali drug bust, two arrested


MEXICALI, Mex. - An investigation to dismantle a drug operation that started in the capital of Sonora, Mexico, has ended right here in the Desert Southwest.

After a lengthy operation, Mexicali Police was able to bust two narcos allegedly responsible for smuggling over 2,200 pounds of marijuana.

Mexicali Police had been following the every move of two men suspected of drug trafficking.

Authorities identified them as 24-year-old Jesus Oscar Perez and 34-year-old Daniel Olivas Payan.

Police located both men traveling in a pick-up truck.

After authorities searched their vehicle, they found weapons and about seven pounds of marijuana.

But phone records of both males directed authorities to another vehicle carrying more than 2,200 pounds of pot.
