YUMA, Ariz. - Yet another drug bust in the Desert Southwest.
Yuma sector border patrol agents arrested suspected drug smugglers early yesterday morning.
Agents spotted five individuals traveling by foot on the desert, south of Interstate-8 near Milepost 97.
Authorities say all alleged smugglers are Mexican nationals.
The Wellton station agents were patrolling the area east of Gila Ridge when they stopped the alleged smugglers and discovered they were carrying backpacks filled with marijuana.
Border patrol seized 243 pounds of the narcotic with a street value of more than $120,000.
