MEXICALI, Calif. - With New Years Eve just days away law enforcement all across the Desert Southwest are getting ready to crack down on people discharging firearms.
The Mexicali Police Department will be heavily patrolling the streets this upcoming holiday weekend.
They say it highly dangerous when people shoot their guns into the air to bring in the New Year.
Every year they respond to hundreds of calls of gun shots fired.
This year, police wants people to think twice before firing their guns.
If you hear gun shots you are urged to contact your local law enforcement agency.
