Excavator falls in hole while repairing water pipe in Mexicali

MEXICALI, Mex. - Some local city workers got a good scare during a regular day on the job.

An excavator fell in a 17 feet deep hole with two operators on the heavy duty machine yesterday morning in Mexicali.

Public service workers were working on repairing a broken water pipe, which made the ground unstable.

Officials say the excavator was too heavy for the weakened ground and when they attempted to dig a hole, the machine fell in what looks like a sink hole.

The workers aboard were not hurt.
