Mexicali woman arrested for allegedly running child prostitution ring

MEXICALI, Mex. - A woman is behind bars accused of running a prostitution ring involving minors.

Mexicali Police arrested Maria Guadalupe Roman Valenzuela for allegedly persuading young girls into performing sexual acts with men for an undisclosed amount of cash and gifts.

Police originally launched an initial investigation nearly 7 years ago after they were notified that Valenzuela was the leader of a prostitution ring.

In 2007, a Mexicali judge issued a warrant for her arrest but it wasn't until yesterday that police were able to take her into custody.

Police say she recruited girls as young as 13-years-old and sexually exploited them by showering them with gifts.

They say Valenzuela's clientele ranged in age from 30 to 65 year old men.
