Yuma, AZ-- A Yuma man is in custody after a brief stand-off with police this morning causing a brief school lock down.

Yuma Police say on Wednesday at 9:24 AM, they received a report of an armed man that had restrained his elderly mother in their home in the 800 block of South 10th Avenue.

Officers arrived and locked down OC Johnson School for about 10 minutes.

A number of officers responded and secured the area. The Hostage Negotiations Team contacted the suspect, 63-year old Robert Hockman, by phone who agreed to voluntarily come out of his home and was taken into custody.

The mother was treated by Yuma Fire officials at the scene and was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center for a pre-existing medical condition.

Hockman was also taken to the hospital for medical evaluation.

The case has been forwarded to the Yuma County Attorney's Office for review of aggravated assault per domestic violence charges.
