Yuma, AZ--Yuma mayor Al Krieger is being investigated for his dealings in office
During a Yuma City council meeting, Krieger took himself out of the discussion and took a seat in the audience next to his family.
The motion to investigate the allegations against Krieger passed with a 4-2 vote.
The motion also authorized an outside law firm with offices in Phoenix and Tucson to proceed as the attorney on behalf of the council.
Councilwomen Leslie Mcclendon and Bobbi Brooks voted no because they believed the Attorney General was the best solution.
Last week, council members decided during a special meeting to re-consider its vote on investigating the mayor.
During a meeting in January, former mayor Marilyn Young claimed Krieger broke conflict of interest laws, violations of city charter and abused his power.
The allegations towards Krieger have been brought to light.
More than 17 allegations against Krieger have been presented in a city document.
Allegations include the mayor discussing executive session details in violation of open meeting laws.
Accusations he tasked one or two city police officers to provide him with information directly rather than going through chain of command.
In addition, accusations include the mayor violated city charter laws.
He's also accused of harassing a city employee to the point of tears which goes against the city charter for the mayor to give orders to any city employee.
City officials have confirmed the list of allegations are in fact a city document.
