Yuma, AZ-- Yuma wood chip burn causes heavy smoke. 

New details in the burning that has caused heavy smoke in yYuma.

Rural Metro says a wood chipping business west of Avenue A and north of County 13th Street, about a mile South of the Yuma Sector Border Patrol Station began burning off unusable wood chips Monday.

However, the fire jumped into a huge pile of wood chips about 20-30 feet high causing the smoke throughout Yuma.

Authorities say this particular fire is difficult to put out because the fire is burning deep inside the pile of wood chips. There is no direct water supply to the area and they are in the process of pushing the fire of wood chips into water to put out the fire.

They report they are 70-80 percent completed.
