Mexicali nurse sentenced for stealing new born baby

MEXICALI, MX - A nurse has been sentenced to six years in prison in Mexicali for stealing a new born baby from a hospital.

Mexicali Police did not release the woman's name but they say she was working at the General Hospital for a few days before she stole a baby girl.

Authorities also say she stole a blank birth certificate.

The incident happened last April.

Police immediately issued an amber alert and were able to recover the baby safely hours later.
