Yuma learning center renamed after educator

YUMA, AZ - A local educator is honored in a big way.

Arizona Western College dedicated the San Luis Learning Center to Alicia Valdez, a retired educator.

The ceremony was held at the center on Tuesday.

The center is now named the Alicia Valdez San Luis Learning Center.

Valdez worked for the Gadsden School District for over two decades where she started a kindergarten program.

She also worked for the AWC district governing board for 18 years before she retired last year.
