YUMA, AZ - A 19-year-old Yuma man has died after a two vehicle collision this weekend.
Yuma Sheriff's Office says just before 8pm Arizona time, they received a report of a two vehicle collision at the desert area south of County 19th Street at around Avenue D.
Authorities say a 2001 green Jeep Cherokee driven by a Somerton juvenile was traveling eastbound in the desert area attempting to reach an access road. An ATV driven by 19-year-old José Castro, which appeared to not be using its lights, was traveling westbound in the same desert area when it collided with the jeep.
Castro was taken to YRMC for massive head and chest injuries where he later died.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation but authorities say alcohol does appear to have played a factor.
