EL CENTRO, CA- A Brawley man has been sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for being a previously convicted felon in possession a firearm.
Salvador Villegas Jr. was arrested for a parole violation in December 2010, after several firearms were found at his residence during a parole search.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Brawley Police Officers, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation-Parole conducted an investigation and identified Villegas Jr. as the owner of the firearms.
In June of 2011 a federal criminal complaint was filed by ATF charging Villegas Jr. of being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He plead guilty to the charge in August 2011.
In addition to the 64 months in prison, he was also sentenced to 3 years of supervised release.
