
IMPERIAL, CA - Imperial Valley College Student President Daniel Bermudez says many students are coming to him with concerns about the campus closing.
"There's actually a rumor...it's not true."
So IVC Interim President Dr. Victor Jaime and other administrators held a student forum to dispel the rumors.
"We're actually offering a summer session..."
IVC Business Services VP John Lau says the college had to cut $4 million out of its $32 million budget, which will impact services at the college. IVC will also has to reduce enrollment.
"We have to make these changes...steps to change it."
Interim VP Jan Magno says while there will be fewer counselors to service students, they can get help counseling help online.
"You can do your own degree audit...and what you still need to graduate."
The budget cuts will require students to take greater responsibility for their academic progress. Tuition goes up to $42 per credit hour, an $10 per credit hour increase.
