Calexico, CA--Calexico Police Department is preparing to clean up and stop graffiti in neighborhoods.
Carlos Noriega, a Calexico business owner said he's in a never ending battle against graffiti on his walls.
"Day after day it gets worse because I erase it and the next day its back again," Noriega said in Spanish.
Noriega said he sometimes spend about $100 a month just to cover up the graffiti.
"I just leave it alone, I get tired and im not well off financially to keep spending money on it," He said.
Noriegas's "Tortilla Factory La Fe" will be among the businesses, houses and walls that will receive some fresh new paint as part of the graffiti clean up event held by Calexico Police Department.
"When you're crossing over from Mexicali, the first city to see in California is Calexico. It's an embarrassment. We have a lot of pride here and you don't want to see he ugliness of what graffiti brings to our city," Calexico Police Sergeant Victor Legaspi said. "We just want to remove that."
Legaspi said he will take as many volunteers as he can get.
"We all need to take pride, make it nice make it beautiful for people to come and enjoy our town," he said.
If you wish to attend the Graffiti clean up event, meet in front of the Calexico Police Department at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
