PHOENIX, AZ- A local man who admitted to conspiracy and money laundering against AEA Federal Credit Union will be sentenced next Monday.

Frank Ruiz was hoping for probation, but according to his attorney in the sentencing memorandum filed Friday, he knows prison time is likely.

Ruiz is asking the judge to sentence him to the government's recommendation of one year in prison for his cooperation.

Ruiz testified for the government in their case against Bill and Rhonda Liddle, which ended in February with convictions.

Ruiz was scheduled to be sentenced on March 12 but U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton was not pleased with the governments recommendation and amount of total loss to AEA by Ruiz of under $1 million.

The government has since raised the amount of total loss by Ruiz to $4.75 million.

However, Ruiz's attorney disagrees and feels the amount should be a little more than $1.9 million.

Ruiz will be sentenced by Judge Bolton in Phoenix on Monday April 9 at 2:30 p.m.
