YUMA, AZ - Frank Ruiz who admitted to conspiracy and money laundering against AEA Federal Credit Union is sentenced to two years in prison. Ruiz was hoping for probation for his cooperation in the case.
Ruiz was asking the judge to sentence him to the government's recommendation of one year in prison for his cooperation.
The former Top of the Kress owner testified for the government in their case against Bill and Rhonda Liddle, who were both convicted on several fraud charges almost two months ago.
Ruiz was scheduled to be sentenced on March 12 but U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton postponed the sentencing because of a disagreement with the government's recommendation on the total loss to AEA by Ruiz.
