Bicyclist suffers major injuries in collision

EL CENTRO, CA- California Highway Patrol is investigating a collision involving a man on a bicycle versus a freightliner big rig.

It happened just before noon Monday on Ralph Road west of Old Highway 111.

CHP says 54 year old Ricardo Godinez of Calexico was towing a set of double trailers used to haul carrots westbound on Ralph Road when he was slowing down to park on the dirt shoulder.

They say 52 year old Lydell Gordon of Imperial was riding his bicycle behind the trailer when he suddenly collided with the left rear of the pull trailers.

Gordon was transported to the Pioneers Memorial Hospital with major head injuries.
