City of San Luis officials predict higher than expected budget

SAN LUIS, AZ- The City of San Luis's budget is predicted to be higher than expected, however no cuts are anticipated.

San Luis Mayor Juan Carlos Escamilla says the council had a budget retreat over the weekend.

He says for their expenditure operation of the city's budget for 2012-2013 is predicted to be $37 million, which is nearly $1 million to $1.5 million higher than the previous year.

Mayor Escamilla tells News 13, after prioritizing they would like to see their employees get raises.

He says employees have not seen raises in the last four or five years and he feels they're way under paid.

There was also good news for city employees laid off last year, eight of twelve let go have been re-hired.

As far as several projects the city has lined up, Mayor Escamilla says they will prioritize on a first need basis due to the higher predicted budget.
