PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona's major electricity providers say they've got enough power available to supply the state's needs through the summer's peak periods without disruptions.
Arizona Public Service Co., Salt River Project and other electric companies outlined their plans to the Arizona Corporation Commission on Wednesday.
The Arizona Republic reports the utilities faced a variety of severe outages from Mesa to Quartzsite and Yuma last summer.
SRP was hit by a June 30 substation fire that left about 175,000 people in Mesa and Apache Junction without power. Millions in Yuma, Southern California and Mexico lost power following a September mishap on the APS system. And a two-day outage hit Quartzsite.
The utilities say they can cut power to manufacturers and businesses if demand exceeds supply on hot days.
