$6,000 worth of equipment stolen from Z Fun Factory Yuma

Posted:

Yuma, AZ - The Z Fun Factory, Yuma's home to goat carts, mini golf and safe family fun was burglarized late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

"The first thing in the morning when I got into work we called the Sheriff's Office because there had been a break in. You get that sinking feeling in your heart. You're like what? Someone stole from us. We're finally building something everybody wants in this town and someone has the gall to steal from you. Yeah it kind of hurts," says Jay Walker a Manager at the Z Factory.

The Z Fun Factory is in the middle of constructing a water park and that's where someone saw an opportunity to steal.

Thieves stole about $ 6,000 worth of water pumps, motors and construction tools from a storage container in a dirt parking lot east of the Z fun factory according to walker.

Walker says the storage units had locks and now the owners Bryce Zeller and his wife Becky have placed a fork lift in front of the area to make it nearly impossible to break into again.

Despite the theft, the construction of Waylonds Water World will continue.

"One thing is for sure Bryce Zeller says he's obviously not happy with what happened with the theft, but ladies and gentle men don't you sweat one bit because it's not going to make us one day late. He's here to build a water park and it's coming," says Walker.

The Zellers have been staying in a mobile home just 60ft away from the storage area to temporality oversea the construction of the park.

Jennifer Macias the Z Fun Factory sales and event manager says the water pumps are very large and she speculates that maybe more than one person was involved.

She also says the pumps were specifically designed for the park so they probably wouldn't be useful anywhere else.

"You know this day in age anyone can buy or sell anything, so who knows. I don't know what they were thinking, but those type of people aren't going to get us down," says Walker.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is investigating according to walker. He says the Zellers have installed security cameras in the parking area to detour any more thieves.

The water park is expected to be completed by late June.
