Motorcyclist found injured on I-8 median

WELLTON, AZ – A motorcyclist serious injured near Yuma yesterday just before noon.

Wellton Fire Department, along with other first response agencies, were at the scene where they found a motorcyclist thrown on the median of Interstate-8 near milepost 23.

Wellton Fire officials say the driver had visible injuries.

He was conscious while paramedics treated him at the scene but he told them he didn't remember how he crashed.

His bike was found 60 yards away in the brush.

The driver was wearing a helmet.

Wellton Fire officials say a witness said he saw the driver traveling about 75-miles per hour when he noticed him swerve off the roadway and lost control.

The eastbound traffic on I-8 was shut down for about 30 minutes and the driver was airlifted to a hospital in Phoenix.
