Gerardo Montes

EL CENTRO, CA- A suspect in connection to the 2010 murder of a Yuma man is in court.

Gerardo Montes was in court Monday morning in El Centro.

He faces charges in the killing of Adrian Chee, who was found shot to death in a brush area in Winterhaven near San Pasqual School in late August 2 years ago.

The Imperial County Sheriff's Office arrested Montes at a Yuma home on September 30, 2010.

He has been behind bars ever since.

Monte's lawyer filed a motion Monday morning to continue the hearing while the defense awaits the results of DNA evidence to come back.

He'll be back in court in June.
