EL CENTRO, CA- A pedestrian is struck and killed in El Centro on SR-111 south of Niland Avenue.
California Highway Patrol says dark clothing and the time of night may have had something to do with the person not being seen.
CHP says a Chevy pick up was heading northbound going about 50 miles per hour when a pedestrian crossed directly in front of the truck.
They say the driver says he just didn't see the person until it was too late.
CHP says he tried to swerve but the right side mirror hit the person crossing knocking him to the ground.
An air ambulance was called but the person died from the impact.
The name of the victim has not been released.
