Retired ICE Special Agent announces run for Yuma County Sheriff


Yuma, AZ - Ricardo Sandoval officially announced his candidacy for Yuma County Sheriff at the Democratic head quarters in Yuma this morning.  

"It's time for me to give back to my community, I have a passion for law enforcement. I'm the type of person with experience and proven leadership with my background. I believe that the citizens of Yuma deserve the best qualified person," says Sandoval. 

Sandoval a Yuma native says he has been in law enforcement for over 37 years with over 18 years of executive law enforcement experience.  

"As an undercover federal agent, I had been involved in gang investigations, financial investigations and terrorism investigations. I have a very diverse background in law enforcement," says Sandoval. 

Sandoval is a Yuma High School graduate and former sergeant at the Yuma County Sheriff's Office. 

He says one of the things he would like to do as county sheriff is form a citizens group with San Luis, Somerton, Yuma. Wellton, the Foothills and Dateland. His idea is to meet once a month and see how we can improve the Sheriff's Office. 

He says he has already collected nearly 400 signatures and only needs 100 more to get his name on the ballot.
