YUMA, AZ- The sister of a suspect wanted in connection to a homicide has been charged with hindering prosecution by rendering assistance to her brother.

Blanca Bustamante was in Yuma Justice Court Tuesday afternoon.

Her attorney argued the felony complaint filed against the 21 year old is insufficient.

She believes her client shouldn't be locked up for this offense because Bustamante didn't know her brother, Manuel, took her car.

The state prosecutor disagreed stating they have evidence she was allowing her brother to stay at her place after knowing he was wanted for a serious crime.

The judge kept Bustamante's bond at $100,000.

She's back in court next week for a preliminary hearing.

Meanwhile a manhunt continues for her brother, Manuel Bustamante, in the homicide of 33 year old Kendall Smith.

Investigators say they have developed information leading them to believe he has fled to Mexico.

Bustamante is described as a Hispanic male, 30 year old, 5 foot 7, and 185 pounds.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Bustamante is urged to contact YCSO or 78-Crime.
