EL CENTRO, CA - Three people are arrested Wednesday after two separate search warrants took place involving the sale of narcotics.
Fausto Caro Jr. was arrested after El Centro SWAT raided his apartment located in the 100 block of West State Street. Caro's was found in possession of cocaine, methamphetamine and two firearms.
Washington Elementary School is located on 1st Street and is less than a block away from Wednesday's incident and it has some parents thinking twice. Nancy Gonzalez who drives here son to school from Calexico says "I don't feel safe my child is so close to the where that person is because he's an unsafe individual."
Commander Jeff Mason with the El Centro Police Department says Caro was arrested on a variety of charges including the possession of narcotics for sale and selling narcotics within a thousand feet of a school and child endangerment.
Mason says the child endangerment charge stems from the fact the narcotics and the firearms were located in the kitchen of the apartment a place that would have been easily accessible by the suspect's two oldest children."
Commander Mason says child protective services were notified and the children have been placed with relatives.
In a separate incident earlier Wednesday SWAT invaded an apartment in the 1800 block of Main Street where six people including the tenants Jose Arreola Jr. and Valerie Velarde were arrested.
Arreola and Velarde were arrested on charges of possession of controlled substance for sale and the four additional were arrested on separate charges.
News 13 learned after all the recent activity involving drugs it has some of them on edge. Alejandra Galvan says "It's not safe at all, and I feel scared for my kids because they go outside and play alone sometimes."
The El Centro Police Department says despite two large busts being conducted in one day there is no drug increase in El Centro.
