Police: Calexico man died of heroin overdose

CALEXICO, CA- Police say a local man who was found dead in Calexico died after overdosing on heroin.

Calexico police say that was the preliminary results from the medical examiner who performed an autopsy on Julio Gutierrez Friday.

Detectives say the 26 year olds body was found in the 1200 block of Estrada Blvd. Saturday morning around 6.

Police believe his body was placed there, based on evidence found at the scene.

Anyone who may have noticed a vehicle or people in the area Friday night or early Saturday morning are urged to call Detective Ceja at (760) 427- 8749.

He tells News 13 he will be working the case throughout the weekend and anyone with information should call him.
