Sunday Brush Fires Called Suspicious

WELTON, AZ - Someone may be setting brush fires and if so firefighters hope the person is caught before someone gets hurt.

Wellton firefighters say the fires set along instate 8 appear to be suspicious.

News 13 learned the fires began shortly before 4:00 from mile posts 26 and 28 to other areas beyond into Maricopa County and Gila Bend totaling eight fires.

Sunday, the fires are under investigation and called suspicious because of the number of brush fires along the interstate.

The Tacna Fire Department also had to be called out to several spots.

Wellton Fire Investigator David Rodriguez says he's never seen this many at one time.
