Police seek man involved with car arson in Yuma

Posted:

Yuma, AZ - Y-P-D is looking for a man who set fire to two vehicles in front of this home over the weekend .

This is the burned out car that is still at the scene, the truck was removed.

Yuma police says the incident happened at about 5am on the 2200 Block of 27th street.

The unidentified man lit a truck and car on fire causing several thousands of dollars worth of damage.

"Anytime a vehicle is on fire it poses a number of different variables. The fire department was able to get on scene and get that extinguished before any other structure caught on fire, so that's a good thing. But it is a serious crime like I said and it caused several thousand dollars worth of damage," says Sergeant Clint Norred.

Neighbors living on the block say they weren't surprised this happened.  Several say they have witnessed what they call suspicious activity going on at the home in the past.

Some we talked to believe the vehicle fire was some sort of retaliation and they don't like this kind of thing so close to where they live.

Y-P-D didn't share any information about the owner of the vehicles.

"Right now detectives are currently investigating it, however obviously we ask the public if they have any information to please call us or 78-crime to remain anonymous," says Sergeant Norred.
