Yuma, AZ - A Yuma house that sparked complaints from neighbors about its appearance and foul odors is just one day from being torn down.
Workers spent hours cleaning up the condemned home and wetting down the house to prepare it for the demolition. Workers say they want the house moist to help control the dust so it does not disturb the neighbors for when the home gets torn down. They plan to knock the house down tomorrow morning.
This is the home the city described as a biohazard with unsanitary, unhealthy and dangerous conditions. When city officials served an administrative inspection warrant they found mounds of trash, infestation of fleas/roaches, human and animal waste throughout the house and many sick and dead cats.
Neighbors say they are relieved to know this place is getting torn down. "I'm pretty stoked they've got it cleaned up I'm sorry they have to level the house but it's something they need to do to fix the problem and it's been a problem for 15years," says Mark Weisman a neighbor.
The city says the demolition will cost over 50,000 dollars and it will be an expense the owner of the home is responsible for.
