EL CENTRO, CA – A nightmare turned reality when a woman wakes up to a burglar next to her bed.
She tells News 13, "I wanted to kill him. I just thought this is not happening. I wanted to get a hold of him and do whatever not kill him but make sure he got caught, but unfortunately he ran away."
It happened Wednesday around 4 in the morning in 2000 block of South Cottonwood Drive in El Centro.
The Victim tells news 13, she believes the burglar initially tried to get in through the window in the living room, then when failing moved to the second window about 5 feet away succeeded and that's when she woke up to him next to her bed.
She tells us what went through her mind upon opening her eyes and seeing a man stand above her. She says "The first reaction I did was I grabbed a hold of him and I started to punch him out. I started to yell at him saying who are you and the next thing you know I saw he was going to hit me so I moved back and that's when he pushed me and he ran out."
Shook up by the situation, she had her daughter call police and while waiting for authorities to arrive they realized two cell phones, a lap top and two purses had been taken from the living room.
The victim says, she doesn't think the suspect who is described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20's worked alone.
She also has some questions for authorities. She says "I want to know, why not take finger prints of the window of the spring on the window why just leave and not do the correct thing? Maybe they can find him doing what they have to do with the finger prints, but they didn't do it."
The El Centro Police Department is investigating the crime. Commander Mason says not having been on scene he can't comment as to why finger prints were not taken.
However, with the suspect still on the loose police are still patrolling the area, asking neighbors questions as to if they saw anything suspicious. Additionally, Mason says officers will be in visiting the area in the evening to see if perhaps the suspect returns.
