“The Braden Scale is a clinically validated tool for identifying patients at risk for pressure ulcers and helping healthcare providers focus on appropriate interventions,” according to co-presenter Anne Scheurich, RN, CWOCN, who is Vice President of Clinical Operations for WoundRounds. The webinar will address topics including: planning effective preventive pressure ulcer interventions, the benefits and best practices use of the Braden tool, and case studies illustrating best use of the Braden Scale.
While the Braden Scale tool has been a widely-used standard for pressure ulcer risk assessments and management for many years, some clinicians’ follow-through has been limited by common misperceptions that prevent best use of the Braden. For example, it is common for clinicians to focus on a patient’s overall risk category rather than the sub-score drivers of that risk. Focusing on merely the overall score inhibits recognition that patients with the same risk level may require dramatically different care plans, depending on their individual Braden sub-category scores.
“Improving wound care is the core mission of WoundRounds, so we offer this valuable education free to participants. WoundRounds is pleased to help advance wound care education for healthcare providers,” says Scheurich. Besides presenting the Braden Scale tool, the webinar will end with a demonstration of Braden Scale automation, a feature of the WoundRounds system that makes it easier to focus on pressure ulcer prevention.
