PHOENIX, AZ- A couple convicted of de-frauding a local credit union of tens of millions of dollars will be sentenced Monday.
William Liddle, the former Vice President of Business Lending for AEA FCU and his wife, Rhonda, were convicted by a jury on dozens of counts of conspiracy, fraud, and money laundering in February.
The government is asking the judge to sentence William to 20 years in prison followed by 5 years of supervised release.
As for Rhonda, They're asking for one year and one day followed by 2 years of supervised release.
Mr. Liddle is seeking the judge for downward departure and a non-guideline sentence of 12 years in prison. His attorney states the basis for this departure is that the sentencing guideline range as calculated for Mr. Liddle is – simply put: unjustly, even absurdly, high.
The couple is scheduled to be sentenced Monday May 21 at the U.S. District Court in Phoenix at 1 p.m.
