YUMA, AZ- A former Somerton police officer arrested for fraud and theft admits his guilt.
49 year old Felipe Navarro changed his plea to guilty on one count of theft at Yuma County Superior Court Thursday.
Per his plea agreement, a charge of fraudulent schemes and artifices was dropped.
Navarro is accused of taking money from a victim by falsely representing there was a Cadillac available at a police auction and that he could assist the victim in obtaining the vehicle.
Court records state if sentenced to prison Navarro faces the maximum of two years behind bars, and will be followed by probation.
He will also have to pay restitution to the victim for nearly $2,000.
Navarro is free on bond.
He's scheduled to be sentenced next month.
