Yuma is expected to be among the top cities in country to have the fastest growth in the housing market according to one report just out.
Yuma County was on a roll just a few years ago but then like many areas the housing market was hit hard, but now there is some encouraging news. A report out Wednesday from Firserv, a financial company that looks at the housing market, says the Yuma area could see double digit price gains.
With mortgage rates so low, many house hunters are taking advantage of the bargains. New homeowner Gary May says after years of looking at several areas the prices in Yuma were very low that he decided to purchase a home.
The report also picked up by CNN's money watch and other business sites say Yuma is expected to be among the top cities in country to have the fastest growth in the housing market through 2013.
Randy Nelson Director of Arizona's Western College Small Business Development Center says we are seeing more housing and some new projects coming up in the city. The county and state are adding additional roads as well and it is all because there is money again.
David stiff, Chief Economist at Fiserv that issued the forecast says many house hunters have already started to pounce on bargains. He believes home prices will start to rebound this year and gain an average of 4% for the next five years
Although Yuma has a high unemployment rate there is a ray of hope that this news is on target signaling Yuma may be on the road to recovery from the housing meltdown.
