Yuma Jaycee Organization holds a Support The Troops

While many take the time to remember those who lost their lives one organization is also supporting the troops serving in the Middle East.

The Yuma Jaycee organization is taking time to hold a benefit to support troops overseas by collecting donations for care packages.

Yuma Jaycee organizer Peggy Collins says this event has been going on since 2008 and have joined forces with the support our troops organization along with the United States Jaycee organization. Peggy also says the benefit is run as a thank you to show our appreciation to the troops and their families for their sacrifices.

The Yuma Jaycee organization holds benefits each year. They say troops benefit greatly from the care packages they receive overseas.

Lori Watson, a member of the Yuma Jaycee says "It's absolutely wonderful. You wouldn't think that a baby wipe would mean so much to them or an envelope to write to their loved ones. Everything and anything they appreciate. To us it is just a small thing, but for them it's everything.''

Food, drinks and members of the public were on hand and children also got to take part in many activities. The organization hopes that more people take time to thanks to our service men and women who protect our country.

"We are trying to do forty to forty five care packages this year so it is going to take a lot of items to stuff that many care packages but we are hopeful that we will be able to do that." says Peggy.

Yuma Jaycee members say they hope many will take the time to remember not only those who have lost their lives, but those currently serving overseas as well.
