It is never too early to start learning how to save.
It was an exciting day at Alice Byrne, Elementary for these fourth graders. They are receiving certificates for successfully completing a money management program at school.
Fourth Grader Priscilla Baragon says she enjoys the program. "I think it is really cool and it teaches us about banking." After teaching students financial literacy for two weeks in the classroom, they are then given real life examples to teach them how to save money.
Jeff Bryd, Mohave state bank Business manager Says, "The program is the American Bankers Association education foundation it teaches students about budgeting and teaches children to save. It's been going on for nine years. I've been involved for seven years and five at Alice Byrne elementary. We think it's important for them to start saving."
Teachers say students enrolled in the program pay a visit to the Mohave state bank and open account with five dollars. Teachers say the see a benefit from students learning how to save. @
"I think you really see a connection between the classroom and outside world." Says Fourth Grade Teacher Chris Jones.
@Students not only will remember completing an important money management program. But will also take with them the skills to become savvy savers into adulthood.
