Woman arrested for smuggling drugs into prison

CALIPATRIA, CA - A woman is behind bars for attempting to smuggle marijuana into Calipatria State Prison while visiting her fiancé in company of her two children.

Calipatria State Prison officials say Marisa Dawn Hilerio attempted to cough out narcotics after fleeing to the restroom after an officer notice an odor.

They say she also resisted arrest and fought the officer.

She was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail.

Her children were turned over to the Child Protective Services.

Hilero's fiancé was placed in administrative segregation while jail officials conduct an investigation.
